Kevin M. Spiegel, FACHE, serves as President & CEO for the Erlanger Health System in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In his current role, the seasoned healthcare executive oversees the tenth largest public health system in the United States. Mr. Spiegel is a Board Certified Healthcare Executive and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Erlanger operates five hospitals, including the region’s only Level One Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center with a fleet of five air ambulances, six emergency departments, and one of the nation’s 4th largest regional comprehensive stroke programs. Offering multiple physician practices and outpatient services that provide care to more than a half-million patients each year, Erlanger is also the region’s only Academic Medical Center, affiliated with the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. The Erlanger Health System has been named the region’s “Best Hospital” by U.S. News & World Report for four consecutive years.

Mr. Spiegel joined Erlanger April 2013, after serving over five years as CEO at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, where he also served as an assistant professor in the College of Medicine and continues in that role today. In previous years he served as President & CEO for Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, Ohio, and COO of Southampton Hospital in Southampton, New York; Deputy Commissioner & SVP for Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York as a pre-hospital care provider. He served on the NYC 911 Board, REMSCO, held the office of Commander for the NY-2 DMAT Team, and served on the board of directors for the Church Health Center in Memphis. Mr. Spiegel is the first pre-hospital care provider to hold the office of President & CEO of Erlanger Health System.

Currently, Mr. Spiegel serves as a Regent for Tennessee with the American College of Healthcare Executives and an Assistant Professor in the College of Medicine at the University of Tennessee. He also serves on the Tennessee Hospital Association’s Board of Directors and the Qsource healthcare quality improvement board. He has authored many articles and lectures nationally and internationally. He holds an MBA in Health Care Administration and Finance from Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. He received a BA in Psychology from the State University of New York at New Paltz, New York.

Mr. Spiegel and his wife, Judy, currently live in North Chattanooga. They have three children: Rachel, is a healthcare executive in Miami; Michael, who works for Homeland Security in Denver; and Joshua, who is a fourth-year medical student at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine.
